Four killed, five injured in Cairo residential building collapse

A residential building collapse in Cairo’s Hadayek Al Qubba neighbourhood has resulted in four deaths and five injuries. The tragedy unfolded without warning, leaving several individuals trapped beneath the debris. Emergency services, including police, ambulances, civil defence, and land rescue teams, were promptly dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.

Initial inspections revealed that the property was an old building that succumbed to collapse suddenly. Rescue workers managed to pull five injured people from the rubble and transported them to the hospital for treatment. The victims who lost their lives were identified as a 67-year-old woman and three younger females aged 22, 15, and 12.

A security cordon was established by the police to keep the public at a distance from the site while heavy equipment and cranes were brought in to clear the rubble from the road and support rescue operations. Authorities are now conducting an investigation to ascertain the cause of the collapse and to determine if building violations or other structural factors played a role in the incident. Rescue and civil defence operations remain ongoing, with authorities assessing the damage and searching for any additional survivors.
