FM reaffirms Egypt’s full solidarity with Lebanon to preserve its sovereignty

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's complete support for Lebanon, emphasizing the preservation of sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and national institutions. In a conversation on August 10, 2026, Abdelatty and Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and address regional developments.

Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's appreciation for their shared history and urged cooperation across various fields. They also reviewed the recent Israel-Lebanon negotiations in Rome and strived for a conducive environment to complete Israel's withdrawal from Lebanese territory. Abdelatty stressed the necessity of adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 1701, urging Israel to cease military operations on Lebanon and withdraw fully from the country to bolster its security and stability.

He further emphasized Egypt's full backing for the Lebanese government and its institutions, particularly the Lebanese army, to enable them to execute their national duties in maintaining security and stability. Rajji expressed gratitude for Egypt's continued support for Lebanon and reaffirmed the country's desire to maintain coordination and consultations with Egypt on issues of shared concern.
