Everton, Palace complete Johnson-McNeil swap deal

Everton and Crystal Palace have concluded a unique straight swap deal, acquiring Brennan Johnson from the Eagles and sending Dwight McNeil to Everton, according to club announcements on Tuesday. Johnson, a 25-year-old Wales international, has inked a four-year contract with Everton, while McNeil, 26, has committed to Palace until 2030.

Johnson, who arrived at Palace in January from Tottenham Hotspur, made 26 appearances across all competitions for the Blues. He expressed his enthusiasm for the move, praising the managerial decisions, team dynamics, and future prospects at Everton.

McNeil, on the other hand, was a cornerstone at Everton, contributing 15 goals and 19 assists in 128 appearances since joining the club from Burnley in 2022. He spoke passionately about the club's achievements under his tenure, stating his eagerness to be part of their continued success.

The two Premier League clubs will face off for the first time this season at Hill Dickinson Stadium on August 22, marking the commencement of the new Premier League campaign.
