Eight dead, two on ventilator support after two road accidents in Zaheerabad within 15 minutes

At least eight individuals lost their lives and several others suffered injuries, including two placed on ventilators, following two multi-vehicle accidents that transpired within a 15-minute span in Zaheerabad on Tuesday (August 11). This incident caused significant traffic congestion on the Hyderabad-Bidar road. In the initial collision, six people perished and others were harmed when a tanker, speeding along the Zaheerabad-Bidar road, crashed into an overloaded autorickshaw near the Mahindra & Mahindra facility around 7.45 p.m. The victims were reportedly workers returning home from Bidar, identified as Rekha, Sridevi, Devadas, Kavitha, Reshma, and Nikitha.

Two injured individuals required hospitalization, while three others, including Nirmalamma, Thuljamma, and Chandrakala, remained in critical condition. Two of the injured were placed on ventilator support, according to Zaheerabad town CI Ravi.

The second accident occurred approximately 15 minutes after the first, within the boundaries of the Kohir police station. An Ertiga, attempting to overtake another vehicle, crossed the road divider while heading towards Hyderabad. The Ertiga collided first with another Ertiga, then crashed into an Innova traveling in the opposite direction.

The two occupants of the Ertiga met their demise in the collision, identified as Mallikarjun, an employee of MRF, and Shankar. Two others sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. These two accidents led to a complete halt in traffic on the Zaheerabad-Bidar road, with vehicles forming a queue for nearly 5 kilometers as police and emergency personnel worked to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow.
