Dubai announces three-day public holiday for Prophet Mohammed's Birthday

Dubai has declared a three-day public holiday on August 28, 2026, to honor the birthday of Prophet Mohammed. Government entities will be closed, with operations resuming on Monday, August 31, 2026. The Dubai Government Human Resources Department confirmed that the holiday applies to all authorities, departments, and institutions associated with the Dubai Government.

However, the decision excludes employees who work shifts or provide essential public services. The department encourages government entities to determine specific working hours for these employees to ensure uninterrupted public service. The DGHR also extended its best wishes to the UAE leadership, citizens, and residents, expressing hope for continued security, prosperity, and progress.
