DNA samples finally reach Karachi University lab in Mir Raza murder case

In a breakthrough for the Mir Raza Ali murder case, six DNA samples have finally arrived at the University of Karachi's forensic laboratory, reports Aaj News. The delay in receiving the crucial forensic evidence has been a matter of concern, as it could determine if the exhumed body is indeed that of the victim. Four samples were collected from the exhumed body, while the remaining two were obtained from Mir Raza's parents as reference samples.

The DNA test report is expected to be released shortly, which could scientifically confirm the identity of the body. Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed Tariq stated that all samples were handed over to the investigation officer, emphasizing the responsibility of the investigating officer for timely delivery. The current investigation officer, Ghanzafar Ali, had recently joined the investigation committee and could not comment on the delay.

Lawyer Jibran Nasir, representing the victim's family, expressed serious concerns over the delay, warning that any negligence in handling forensic evidence would have serious consequences. Nasir pointed out major errors in the first post-mortem report, which had insisted on a suicide theory. The new investigation team has begun its work, and Nasir expects the direction of the investigation to become clearer within three to four days.
