Day after talks with Tarique Rahman, Dinesh Trivedi meets PM Narendra Modi

On a day following his discussions with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. He sought Modi's guidance for fostering enduring bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh. The High Commission of India in Bangladesh shared the statement on X. Five days after Bangladesh had criticized former PM Sheikh Hasina's remarks in India, Rahman had raised the issue of her extradition with Trivedi on Monday.

He emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for advancing bilateral relations between the two countries. Following his meeting with Rahman, Trivedi described Rahman as a people's person and expressed confidence that problems between the two nations would be resolved if they met. He noted that despite sharing a border, both countries also share dreams.

Trivedi further emphasized that issues are inevitable in democracies, but a good relationship is the ultimate goal, leading to a win-win situation. He described his meeting with Rahman as meeting two people representing the people, expressing delight in the interaction.
