Crystal Palace in talks to re-sign Guessand on loan

Crystal Palace are engaged in discussions regarding the potential re-signation of Evann Guessand on a season-long loan from Aston Villa. The 25-year-old Ivorian forward had a stint at Selhurst Park during the latter half of last season, where he contributed to the team's Conference League triumph in May.

Guessand's transfer to Aston Villa in August of the previous year was met with mixed reviews, as he managed to find the back of the net just twice in 21 appearances across all competitions. However, his fortunes changed when he joined Crystal Palace in January, netting his first Premier League goal in a 1-0 victory over Wolves. He also participated in a substitution appearance for the Conference League final victory over Rayo Vallecano.

Apart from his club performances, Guessand added a Europa League winner's medal to his accolades by representing Villa in the competition earlier in the season, as they ultimately clinched the trophy under the guidance of manager Unai Emery. The Ivory Coast international also made two substitute appearances for his national team during the recent World Cup.

Following Crystal Palace's decision not to activate an option to secure his permanent signing earlier in the summer, the player returned to Villa for pre-season training.
