China’s carriers may be vulnerable to submarines

Beijing: A recent report from the Washington-based Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has highlighted a potential vulnerability for China's expanding aircraft carrier fleet. The CSIS study suggests that China's massive warships may be susceptible to submarine attacks, posing a significant threat to the high-value ships' operational safety.

According to the report, US attack submarines operating in the western Pacific could exploit gaps in China's undersea detection and tracking capabilities, leaving the carriers exposed to potential ambushes. These findings raise concerns for Beijing as it invests heavily in building more aircraft carriers to bolster its global naval presence, particularly as tensions with the US continue to rise.
