Chiefs Reunite With Edge Rusher From Super Bowl Run

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to bring back a familiar face to their defense, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The team has reached an agreement with free-agent defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah on a one-year contract extension. Ogbah, 32, was a vital part of the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIV victory in 2020. However, last season marked his least productive year in the NFL, with a paltry 0.5 sacks, 15 tackles, and a handful more of miscellaneous stats.

Despite this, both Ogbah and the Chiefs seem optimistic about replicating their Super Bowl-winning formula. In 2023, Ogbah led the team with 32 tackles, 5.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and three pass deflections. He began his pro career as a second-round pick in 2016 by the Cleveland Browns, who traded him to the Chiefs ahead of the 2019 season.

Ogbah then inked a two-year, $15 million deal with the Miami Dolphins after a couple of impressive seasons. But an injury in 2022 derailed his progress, leading to his release by the Dolphins this year. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Ogbah attended Oklahoma State University, where he amassed 133 tackles, 28 sacks, and two forced fumbles from 2013 to 2015.
