Back Adeleke now, Dele Momodu tells Osun opposition

Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress and the publisher of Ovation Magazine, has called on opposition parties in Osun State to unite behind Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party in the upcoming gubernatorial election on August 16. Momodu emphasized the importance of opposition unity to prevent the All Progressives Congress from exploiting divisions among rival parties to rig the election.

In a statement on X, Momodu expressed his support for the Accord Party as part of a broader coalition aimed at challenging what he referred to as the "APC cankerworm," which he accused of negatively impacting Nigeria's economy, social cohesion, religious tolerance, and democratic institutions. Although the opposition initially aimed to avoid previous election mistakes by presenting a strong alternative to the APC, Momodu acknowledged that the political landscape in Osun had necessitated opposition parties to set aside their individual ambitions and work towards a common goal.

Momodu urged opposition politicians to confront reality and adopt a practical approach to the election, stressing that a divided opposition could provide an advantage to the APC. He urged opposition stakeholders to prioritize the larger political objective over individual ambitions, arguing that unity was crucial to effectively challenge the APC's influence in the upcoming election.
