Apple Is Considering to Completely Reinvent the Apple Watch

Apple is reportedly contemplating a significant overhaul of its Apple Watch product line, potentially introducing novel form factors. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's industrial design team has been investigating a comprehensive redesign of the smartwatch range over the past year. One of the concepts under examination is a screenless fitness wearable akin to products from companies like Whoop.

This type of device would mark a marked departure from the current Apple Watch, which has featured a touchscreen since its debut in 2015. However, Gurman does not anticipate a screenless Apple Watch or fitness tracker to launch in 2026, as the concept remains a part of the company's ongoing research and design work. Apple is also exploring the potential launch of a round Apple Watch, a significant shift from the company's traditional product design.

Nonetheless, Gurman suggests that a circular model is unlikely to reach the market in the near future. Other potential changes to the Apple Watch lineup include expanding the range with more premium models, positioned above the Apple Watch Ultra and Hermès offerings, and budget-friendly alternatives to the existing SE series. Additionally, there are indications that Apple may reintroduce ceramic cases to the Apple Watch lineup, a material used on previous Edition models but not currently featured in the Series 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3 products.
