All are welcome, says Wawasan amid talk of NS Bersatu chief defecting

Pahang-based election director Badrul Hisham Shaharin of Wawasan expressed a welcoming stance towards Negeri Sembilan Bersatu chief Hanifah Abu Baker amid rumors of a possible defection. Badrul, widely recognized as Chegubard, underscored the party's commitment to inclusiveness and growth. The gossip surfaced following social media posts claiming Hanifah had met Wawasan president Hamzah Zainudin.

Badrul confirmed the meeting but dismissed speculations about personal matters between Hanifah, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin, and Azmin Ali. Despite Hanifah's prior criticism of Hamzah, Badrul emphasized that Wawasan values open-mindedness and forgives past grievances. The party's focus, according to Badrul, is on building its political strength for the future, without getting entangled in historical disputes.

Badrul also dismissed the notion that Hanifah intended to expose Muhyiddin's and Azmin's secrets. FMT reached out to Hanifah for a comment. A Bersatu Supreme Council member confirmed Hanifah's meeting with Hamzah, but insisted that the meeting was known to several state leaders. The member revealed that Hanifah informed Muhyiddin about the discussion's details and ultimately decided to stay with Bersatu, rejecting Hamzah's offer.

Hamzah formed Wawasan after being expelled from Bersatu due to a leadership conflict with Muhyiddin. Wawasan joined PN last month after encountering objections from Bersatu regarding the decision's legitimacy and process.
