All are welcome, says Wawasan amid talk of NS Bersatu chief defecting

PETALING JAYA: Wawasan has extended a warm welcome to Negeri Sembilan Bersatu chief Hanifah Abu Baker amid rumors of his potential defection. Badrul Hisham Shaharin, Wawasan's election director, emphasized the party's inclusive stance and dedication to expanding its political influence. The speculation surfaced after social media claimed Hanifah's meeting with Wawasan president Hamzah Zainudin, which Badrul confirmed as factual.

Despite past disagreements, Badrul praised Hamzah's open-mindedness, asserting that past conflicts should not hinder the pursuit of a larger vision. Wawasan seeks to grow stronger by embracing all, rather than fixating on history. Badrul dismissed the notion that Hanifah intended to expose secrets, stating that such matters hold little significance.

The Bersatu Supreme Council member, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that Hanifah met Hamzah with the consent of several state leaders, adding that Hanifah informed Muhyiddin about the discussion but ultimately decided to stay with Bersatu, rejecting Hamzah's invitation. Formed after being ousted from Bersatu, Wawasan joined PN last month after Bersatu raised concerns about the party's admission process.
