The Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced on the 12th that a total of 1,954 lottery tickets purchased in 2020 did not receive their winnings, totaling 58.1 billion won. By grade, 4th and 5th prizes accounted for 95.6% of the unclaimed amount, with 1,864 cases worth 52.2 billion won and 80 cases worth 3.3 billion won, respectively. There were 8 cases of 3rd prize, worth 2.1 billion won, and 2 cases of 2nd prize, worth 270 million won. No 1st prize winners failed to claim their prizes. The Ministry of Strategy and Finance explained that if a lottery ticket holder does not claim their winnings within 60 days from the date of the lottery, the prize will be automatically deposited into their account. The deadline for claiming 2020 lottery winnings is this Friday. The Ministry of Strategy and Finance urged lottery ticket holders to check if they have unclaimed winnings by visiting the lottery website or visiting a lottery terminal. Lottery winnings can be claimed at a lottery terminal or at a bank with a lottery account within one year from the date of the lottery. After that, winnings can only be claimed at the Korea Lottery Commission.
