3기 진화위, ‘한통련 사건’ 조사 개시…전주교도소 인권침해 사건도

The Truth and Reconciliation Committee (Truth and Reconciliation Committee) has decided to initiate investigations into 345 cases, including the 'One-Train Incident' and the 1990 prison escape that led to human rights violations at the Jeonju Prison. The investigations will focus on human rights violations that occurred between 2001 and November 24, 1990, including the 'One-Train Incident' and prison escape cases.

The 'One-Train Incident' refers to the abduction of Korean students in 1977, which led to the designation of the Korean Democratic Reunification Unity Union (One-Train) as a counter-national organization by the Korean government. Another case being investigated is the 'Jeonju Prison Wrongful Confinement of Conscience' incident, where a student activist named Jeon Ho was imprisoned and subjected to various human rights violations.

Additionally, cases from major cities such as Jeonnam, North Jeolla, North Gyeongsang, Gangwon, and Gyeonggi-do involving military and police actions against civilians will also be investigated. The Truth and Reconciliation Committee's decision to initiate these investigations comes after the 2003 decision by President Park Geun-hye and subsequent resumption of investigations under the Park Geun-hye administration.

The committee emphasizes the importance of uncovering the truth behind these incidents and holding the government accountable for its actions.
