(2nd LD) Fire at chemical warehouse in Pyeongtaek fully extinguished

Pyongyang, South Korea, Aug. 11 -- A large fire at a chemical warehouse in Pyeongtaek was completely put out after 21 hours, according to firefighting authorities. The incident occurred at a warehouse storing over 1.9 million liters of chemicals, including flammable materials, in Pyeongtaek, located 60 kilometers south of Seoul.

Initial control of the fire was declared at 9:08 a.m. and full extinguishment was achieved at 9:17 p.m. by the Gyeonggi Province firefighting headquarters. No injuries were reported. The single-story building, which housed more than 100 types of hazardous materials, including flammable liquids, was partially damaged by the blaze.

Fire authorities were mobilized after the fire broke out at 12:03 a.m., deploying 255 personnel under a national firefighting order. The focus on preventing the fire's spread to nearby facilities helped contain the blaze, according to a firefighting official. The exact cause of the fire is now under investigation by fire authorities.
