2027: Ezekwesili reaffirms support for Obi

Former Nigerian Education Minister, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, has reiterated her endorsement for Peter Obi, the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, in the upcoming 2027 elections. She also advocated for a fundamental change in governance, human dignity and Nigeria's political system, which has failed to enhance the lives of its citizens.

Ezekwesili, who served as the World Bank's Africa region vice president and co-founded the #BringBackOurGirls movement, made these remarks on Arise TV's 'Prime Time' show. She stated that if she had to choose a presidential candidate during the 2023 election using the same leadership criteria, she would still support Obi, who she believes would fare better than the other contenders.

Ezekwesili cautioned against focusing solely on Obi or any other presidential candidate, urging Nigerians to vote for themselves and challenge the current design of governance. She emphasized the need for a new trajectory that prioritizes national governance, human dignity and the well-being of the citizenry.
