2026 National Youth Conference: Take an active role in national development — NYA CEO urges youth

The CEO of Ghana's National Youth Authority, Osman Abdulai Ayariga, has called upon young people to actively participate in the country's development at the 2026 National Youth Conference held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi. Speaking on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Mr Ayariga emphasized that the youth should not merely be passive recipients of government support but should instead leverage their ideas, skills, and civic engagement to shape the nation's future.

The conference, themed "Rebuilding Values, Inspiring Patriotism: Empowering the Youth in the Digital Age," aims to provide a platform for meaningful discussions on issues affecting the youth and the country. Mr Ayariga urged participants to actively contribute to the conversations, challenge ideas, and share their experiences from their respective communities.

He stressed that the youth should not wait for formal positions or age to take responsibility for their communities and nation, stating that they belong at the decision-making table. The National Youth Authority is committed to enhancing youth participation in decision-making at various levels, working alongside the Ghana Youth Federation and other stakeholders.

Mr Ayariga implored the attendees to use the conference to forge connections, identify mentors, exchange ideas, and devise practical solutions to the challenges facing young people. He challenged the youth to leave the conference with a renewed dedication to contributing to Ghana's development, highlighting that the country's future is being shaped by the choices young people make today.
