Zuckerberg’s yacht did not hear call for maritime assist, says spokesperson

The spokesperson for Mark Zuckerberg's yacht, Launchpad, revealed that the crew of the billionaire's vessel did not hear a radio call for a maritime assist from a stranded small skiff off the coast of Alaska. According to the Alaska Beacon, the skiff had signaled for help through the U.S. Coast Guard last week. A nearby cruise ship, the Wilderness Legacy, promptly towed the skiff to Farragut Bay in Southeast Alaska and refueled it.

Despite being in closer proximity, Launchpad did not respond to the Coast Guard's call for assistance. A passenger on the Wilderness Legacy, Michael Love, recounted the experience on Bluesky stating that his boat had rescued the stranded vessel and that the Coast Guard had radioed Launchpad, but it repeatedly refused to respond.

The spokesperson confirmed in an email to the Alaska Beacon that Michael Love's account was accurate, stating that Mark Zuckerberg and his family were not on board Launchpad at the time of the incident. The Coast Guard mentioned that the skiff was not in distress when it made the call for assistance and by the time the crew reviewed the Coast Guard contact on a different radio channel, the rescue operation was already underway.
