Zik Pan-African Award honours Zenith Bank CEO, Adaora Umeoji for transformational leadership

Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, has been awarded the Zik Pan-African Award for Transformational Leadership in Banking and Financial Innovation. The prestigious award was presented during the 7th Zik International Peace and Leadership Award Lecture in Accra. The recognition honors her three decades of banking experience, over 20 years of executive management at Zenith Bank, and her contributions to the growth of the financial services industry in Africa.

Under her leadership, Zenith Bank has become one of Africa’s top financial institutions, expanding its presence in Ghana with the opening of 43 branches, bringing the bank closer to its goal of 50 branches. Zenith Bank’s growth strategy centers on the core pillars of People, Technology, and Service, which Dr. Umeoji emphasizes as the foundation of Zenith Bank’s identity and success since its founding in 1990.

Dr. Umeoji’s leadership is backed by an impressive academic and professional background, including degrees in Sociology, Accounting, Law, Business Administration, and a Doctorate in Business Administration. She has also completed executive management programs at leading business schools worldwide. Her leadership extends beyond banking, as she founded the Pink Breath Cancer Care Foundation and the Adorable Foundation, both focused on education and healthcare for underprivileged individuals.

She has also received numerous honors, including the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) for her contribution to nation-building in Nigeria.
