Pre-orders for Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Samsung’s latest foldable smartphone, have reportedly surged 30 percent compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip. Industry insiders revealed on August 13 that pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, which began on August 6, have already surpassed 30 percent of the previous model’s total pre-orders. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G was co-developed by Samsung Electronics and KT, and was the first 5G-enabled foldable smartphone to be released in Korea. The phone’s strong sales are being attributed to its stylish design and improved performance. In particular, industry insiders say that the number of female customers making purchases has increased significantly. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G’s predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip, was often criticized for being an “ajjae phone,” a colloquial term used to describe a product that is popular among middle-aged men. However, with the release of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, it appears that Samsung has successfully appealed to female customers as well. According to Samsung Electronics, customers in their 20s and 30s made up 60 percent of pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The company added that the number of female customers making pre-orders jumped by 20 percent compared to the previous model. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G will be available for purchase starting on August 14.
