Youth ministry endorses Shagari’s candidature for NAMYO leadership

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has backed Mr Muhammad Bello Bala Shagari's bid for the National Representative position within the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization (NAMYO) Nigeria, as well as for the role of Vice Chairman for the Africa Region, prior to the organization's upcoming General Assembly and elections.

This support was detailed in a letter, sent on June 24, 2026, to the NAMYO Secretariat. The letter, penned by Ayodele Olawande on behalf of the Minister of Youth Development, highlighted Shagari's distinguished track record as a youth leader. The ministry emphasized Shagari's significant contributions to youth diplomacy, his commitment to advancing youth participation, and his efforts in promoting international cooperation among young people.

They noted that Shagari's experience, integrity, and leadership skills rendered him "eminently qualified" to hold higher positions within the organization. The ministry officially expressed its full backing for Shagari's candidacy, urging the NAMYO Secretariat and all member chapters to consider his election. The ministry also expressed confidence that Shagari's election would enhance NAMYO's standing, fostering greater youth cooperation, peacebuilding, sustainable development, and international solidarity among member states.
