Woman Offloaded at Karachi Airport for Trying to Fly to Baku to Meet Dating App Lover

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has detained a Pakistani woman at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport due to suspicions of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. The woman, named Hamna Shakeel, was questioned after immigration officials deemed her travel intentions suspicious. During the questioning, Hamna claimed she was traveling to Baku, Azerbaijan to meet a man she had contacted through a dating app.

She stated she anticipated receiving Rs. 300,000 in return for the meeting, and the man had also promised to pay for her accommodation. A search of her mobile phone uncovered several suspicious messages and contacts possibly discussing sexual encounters for monetary gain. Hamna also disclosed information about past experiences of sexual exploitation and abuse, and alleged that she had been confined with other women by a network in Karachi who exploited them.

The FIA is now investigating potential links to sexual exploitation and human trafficking, and is assessing Hamna as a possible victim, with further protective measures under consideration.
