Why stay in ‘damaged’ PN, Tuan Ibrahim asks Bersatu

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has questioned why Bersatu would choose to remain within Perikatan Nasional (PN) following Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin's assertion that the coalition had become damaged. Muhyiddin's declaration of forming a new coalition suggests that Bersatu would not persist in PN, according to Tuan Ibrahim.

Furthermore, Muhyiddin explicitly stated that PN was already compromised and that PAS was responsible. If PN is deemed damaged, it seems improbable that he would desire Bersatu to continue in such a coalition, he argued. Upon launching Bersatu's election apparatus for the Negeri Sembilan election, Muhyiddin declared the coalition had become toxic due to straying from its initial principles.

He contended that people once took pride in PN and were confident in its capacity to secure numerous seats in elections, but it is now damaged. Muhyiddin attributed this damage to PAS, which currently leads PN and has failed to showcase its governance ability and uphold democratic principles. Despite contesting the Negeri Sembilan polls under its own banner while still being an integral part of PN, Bersatu competed in 11 state seats, with BN securing the remaining 25 seats.

PN chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar later affirmed Bersatu's continued membership in the coalition, contradicting PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's claim that Bersatu had automatically ceased to be a PN member. Meanwhile, Bersatu's information chief, Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, stated that the party intended to file a report with the Registrar of Societies regarding its status as a PN component.
