In a recent Netflix docu-series, former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has opened up about his controversial altercation with ex-doctor Eva Carneiro. This incident took place during Mourinho's second stint at Chelsea in 2015. Despite the passage of 11 years, Mourinho has not apologized to Carneiro, as she perceived his words as highly offensive. He has maintained that his comments were not sexist, arguing that such heated exchanges are typical in football and should not be overemphasized.

Mourinho clarified that to him, a female doctor is no different from a male doctor. He explained that in moments of extreme tension, individuals with a football background tend to express their feelings vocally. He acknowledged that those familiar with football culture can quickly move past such incidents. However, he admitted that this particular situation was different.

The incident occurred at the start of the challenging 2015-16 season, following Chelsea's Premier League triumph the previous year. The team had just received a red card for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, leaving only nine players available for Mourinho's next match against Swansea City. Eden Hazard suffered an injury after a challenge, which prompted the team doctor Carneiro to rush onto the field along with physio Jon Fearn to provide treatment.

Upon seeing Carneiro and Fearn enter the pitch, Mourinho grew furious, realizing that Hazard would have to leave the game temporarily, reducing his team to nine players. Carneiro later claimed that Mourinho had discriminated against her based on her gender, as he used derogatory language, describing her as the 'daughter of a wh*re'.

After the match, Chelsea removed Carneiro from her first-team duties, and she eventually left the club a month later. She was awarded a settlement from the club after filing a tribunal case for discrimination, alleging that Mourinho and her subsequent dismissal were discriminatory actions.
