Why Did Farrah Fawcett Quit Charlie's Angels After Just One Season?

Farrah Fawcett is best known for her iconic role in the 1970s television series Charlie’s Angels. However, she only appeared in one of its five seasons, leaving the show in 1977. Fawcett felt creatively stifled and wished to take on more challenging roles beyond television. Additionally, she was bothered by the massive commercialization of her character, which resulted in a wide range of merchandise, many of which she had no control over.

Fawcett reportedly wanted 10% of the merchandising sales, but was only offered 2%. While some actors may have seen such widespread recognition as a dream opportunity, Fawcett found it creepy, especially if she wouldn't profit from it. Her co-producer Leonard Goldberg couldn't understand why she left so soon, stating that she walked out on a valid contract and no major studio would hire her after this.

Despite her one-season stint, Fawcett's career never reached the same heights again. However, Kate Jackson, who played Sabrina Duncan for the first three seasons, maintains that there was no ill will between the three actresses over Fawcett's departure.
