Who could Arsenal sign after missing out on Vinicius Jr?

After their failed pursuit of Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, Arsenal has had a mixed transfer window, signing Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes for £75m. Manager Mikel Arteta aimed to bolster the squad with win-now signings, similar to Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres from last summer. Guimaraes' immediate impact on competition within the Arsenal squad has been evident.

The team will also be without two key defenders, Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, due to injury. With potential signing targets including forward Christos Tzolis, winger Bradley Barcola, and Kenan Yildiz, Arteta is focused on finding value in the market. Tzolis, a 24-year-old Greek international, impressed during pre-season. Barcola, a Paris St-Germain winger, remains a target despite Liverpool's interest.

Kenan Yildiz, a 21-year-old Turkish left winger, had an impressive 2025-26 season with Juventus, scoring 11 goals and registering 10 assists in 47 appearances. However, Juventus is unwilling to sell him. Another potential left winger, Nico Williams, plays for Athletic Club but Arsenal may not pursue him due to his high price tag and potential release clause.

Currently, Tzolis, Eberechi Eze, and Noni Madueke are set to start in the back four, with Konsa, an England international, being considered for a potential move to replace the injured defenders. Arsenal is also interested in Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero, but Atletico Madrid is reported to be pursuing him as well.
