Venmo is giving you a new way to pay on Google Play.

Google has been increasing its efforts to encourage Android users to download more apps and spend more money on games and in-app purchases. Today, Google has introduced Venmo as a new payment option for purchases on the Play Store, allowing users to spend $40 they might have forgotten to transfer to their bank account to access movie rentals, ad-free apps, and more.

Users can link their Venmo account to the Play Store starting today, making it another payment method for all items within the store. Along with debit and credit cards, Venmo joins Cash App and PayPal, which owns Venmo, as alternative payment methods at checkout. While Google did not specify regions in the announcement, Venmo is effectively only available to US residents, meaning this change only impacts US users.

This move has taken longer than expected, as Google added Cash App as a payment method on Play over two years ago, and PayPal has been available for over a decade.
