Veep Opoku-Agyemang bids farewell to outgoing Brazilian Ambassador

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang bid farewell to outgoing Brazilian Ambassador Madam Mariana Gonçalves Madeira, expressing gratitude for her service in strengthening ties between Ghana and Brazil. President John Dramani Mahama and the Ghanaian government thanked Madeira for her efforts in bolstering relations, noting that the two nations share deep historical and cultural connections due to transatlantic migration.

The Vice President outlined that discussions with Madeira covered cooperation in agriculture, energy, security, trade, and other areas of mutual interest, with particular enthusiasm for increased collaboration in the energy sector. Madeira highlighted Ghana's partnership with Brazil in international initiatives, such as addressing the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and combating hunger and poverty, as well as programs focused on women and social development.

The Ambassador commended Madeira for her engagement with various sectors in Ghana, including the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Ga Traditional Council, and initiatives aimed at food security and social development. As Madeira prepares to depart Ghana, the Vice President wished her success in her future diplomatic endeavors and expressed confidence in continued bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
