Korea's U-17 girls' volleyball team has advanced to the round of 16 at the 2024 FIVB Girls' U17 Volleyball World Championship. The Korean team, led by head coach Park Soon-ja, defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 25-17, 25-20) in their second Group E match at the championship on August 20, local time, in Lima, Peru. With the win, Korea finished second in Group E with a 1-1 win-loss record, along with the Dominican Republic, Egypt and Puerto Rico, who all finished with a 1-1 record. In the round of 16, Korea will face the runner-up of Group F, which includes host nation Peru, Argentina, Brazil and China. The Korean team made a strong start, taking the first set 25-18, but lost the second set 19-25. They then took the third and fourth sets 25-17 and 25-20, respectively, to seal the win. The Korean team's victory was led by Kim Yu-ji, who scored a team-high 20 points.
