Trump names Scharf as new White House counsel

President Donald Trump has appointed Will Scharf as the White House Counsel, effective September 1st. Scharf, currently serving as the staff secretary, previously held the position of head of the National Capital Planning Commission during Trump's first term. Trump praised Scharf's intelligence and loyalty, stating that he is "Tough, Strong, and Smart!"

The move comes as the midterm elections approach, with Democrats threatening to investigate Trump's administration if they succeed in the November elections. As White House Counsel, Scharf will advise on legal and policy matters related to the presidency, including presidential pardons, judicial appointments, and legislative reviews.

He will also assist in managing congressional investigations and lawsuits against the president. In his previous role as a federal prosecutor, Scharf represented Trump in several cases, including at the Supreme Court, where he argued for the president's immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts.
