Tragedy as two children drown in neglected sewage pit in Migori

Two children, aged five and one-year-old, tragically drowned in a neglected sewage pit in Kowuor village, Rongo, Migori County. The bodies were discovered on Sunday morning floating in the pit, which belonged to a local resident. The children had traveled from Masara area in Suna West with their mother on Saturday to visit their grandmother.

A concerned villager found the tragedy when he noticed a pink sandal floating in the pit. He promptly alerted others, leading to the retrieval of the children's bodies by members of the public and the area assistant chief. Upon arriving at the scene, police officers conducted an investigation and found no visible physical injuries on the children.

The bodies were transported to Rosewood Mortuary for further examination pending autopsy. Simultaneously, police launched an investigation after an unidentified woman's body was found submerged in Githunguri River in Ruai, Nairobi. The woman, believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, was discovered by members of the public around 9 am on Sunday near the power line in the Ruai Valley View area.

She was found with injuries to her head, suggesting a possible murder. Police recovered several items from the scene, including a bottle of water, a beer bottle, and human hair that may be connected to the deceased. The body was then transported to the City Mortuary for preservation, identification, and postmortem examination. Police are now investigating the identity of the woman and the circumstances surrounding her death.
