Tiranga is a symbol of India’s honour, pride and glory, says Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, speaking in Gorakhpur on August 11, 2026, highlighted the significance of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. He emphasized that the national flag is a symbol of India's honor, pride, and glory. Adityanath urged citizens to display the Tiranga at their homes with respect and pride, underscoring the campaign's aim to spread the practice nationwide.

The nearly two-and-a-half-kilometre-long yatra began at the Nagar Nigam premises, with the Chief Minister carrying the Tricolour while reciting the sentiment of "Nation First." He paid tribute to Veerangana Maharani Lakshmibai, expressing gratitude for her sacrifice during the freedom struggle. Adityanath also mentioned that earlier, citizens faced legal challenges to raise the national flag, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it a fundamental right.

The Tiranga Yatra is part of a broader initiative to encourage citizens to hoist the flag at their residences, with the government targeting five crore homes this year. The Chief Minister highlighted the sacrifices made by notable freedom fighters, such as Mangal Pandey, Bandhu Singh, Rani Lakshmibai, Tatya Tope, and Dhan Singh Kotwal, lamenting the lack of recognition they received under previous governments.

He urged people to post selfies with the Tricolour they carry, emphasizing the state government's commitment to honoring the martyrs' legacy by hoisting the flag in various public and private establishments.
