Tinubu treks to office, eats once daily — NRS boss

The Nigeria Revenue Service Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, has refuted allegations of President Bola Tinubu leading a lavish lifestyle. During an interview on Channels Television, Adedeji addressed the concerns raised by journalist Seun Okinbaloye regarding the spending habits of government officials amidst Nigeria's economic challenges.

Adedeji clarified that President Tinubu does not indulge in extravagance, despite his high-ranking position. He explained that the President walks from his residence to his office daily and only uses a vehicle when necessary, such as travelling to the airport. Additionally, Adedeji revealed that Tinubu consumes only one meal per day and has not traveled abroad in the past three months.

The tax revenue for the Nigerian government has surged by 113%, reaching N27tn. Adedeji challenged the notion of the President's alleged luxurious convoy, questioning the credibility of the claim. He emphasized that the President's lifestyle is modest, with no documented instances of him attending parties or leaving the country during the interview.

Adedeji urged against labeling the President as someone who "lives large" and highlighted his continuous presence and engagement in reviewing documents at the office.
