This ZWO astronomy camera is perfect for solar and lunar imaging

Introduced a decade ago, the ZWO ASI174MM is an astrophotography camera designed for planetary imaging. However, its true strengths lie in capturing solar and lunar images. With a 2.3MP Sony Exmor IMX174 sensor and 5.86µm pixel size, it boasts a fast global shutter and USB 3.0 connectivity. The camera's compact, lightweight aluminum body weighs only 140g, making it ideal for use with telescopes.

Its main advantage is its high frame rate, which supports the lucky imaging technique of capturing and stacking video frames for sharper images. The ASI174MM is especially well-suited to solar imaging with H-alpha filters, due to its 5.86µm pixels and large sensor size, which allows it to capture more of the solar disc than many small planetary cameras.
