Sukma 2026: Selangor sedia tindakan susulan jika IPU tak sihat

Severe air pollution in Selangor may trigger the Sukma 2026 event, according to Selangor's Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari. If the Air Pollution Index (IPU) records unhealthy readings, the state plans to take follow-up actions similar to those advised by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) and the Selangor Health Department (JPNS). Amirudin stated that the ministry of Health will provide guidance if the IPU exceeds 100, and appropriate measures will be taken accordingly.

Currently, eight locations in Sarawak and one in Selangor have recorded IPU readings above 100, with Johan Setia in Klang being the only unhealthy area in Selangor, with a reading of 153. The Selangor government is monitoring the situation closely, depending on updates from MetMalaysia and the Selangor Health Department. The Menteri Besar assured that his administration will regularly review official reports from relevant agencies to ensure the safety and health of athletes and the general public throughout the Sukma 2026 event.

If weather conditions worsen to concerning levels, officials may consider adjusting the schedule for competitions.
