A worker at Maeil Dairytech Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Maeil Industry Co., Ltd., died on the 22nd while working at the company's plant in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. According to the police and labor authorities, the deceased was a male employee in his 30s who was working at the Pyeongtaek plant of Maeil Dairytech, which produces infant formula and dairy products. He was found unconscious at around 10:30 a.m. on the 22nd while cleaning a tank, and was pronounced dead at the hospital at around 12:30 p.m. The police and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency are investigating the cause of the accident, and it is estimated that the man died from asphyxiation due to the inhalation of harmful gas while working in the confined space of the tank. The labor union of Maeil Dairytech expressed deep regret over the accident, saying, "We are deeply saddened by the news of the worker's death."
