‘St. Denis Medical’ Recruits Damon Wayans as Season 3 Premiere Guest Star

Damon Wayans, a comedy icon, is set to make his guest star debut on the upcoming third season premiere of NBC's medical sitcom “St. Denis Medical.” Wayans will play Dr. Highland, a charming yet pompous doctor who fills in for the hospitalized Ron, played by David Alan Grier. The new character is expected to quickly win over the patients and staff, potentially complicating the ongoing romantic entanglements at the hospital.

The casting of Wayans follows the Season 2 finale, where the staff anxiously awaited Ron's recovery from a heart surgery performed by Dr. Brooke Emerson. The finale took an unexpected turn as Ron allegedly confessed his feelings for executive director Joyce while under the influence of anesthesia. Co-creator Eric Ledgin described the relationship between Ron and Joyce as complex and messy.

Wayans is no stranger to delivering standout performances and writing roles, having made a name for himself on “Saturday Night Live,” starring and co-writing “In Living Color,” and succeeding globally with “My Wife and Kids.” His most recent work includes “Poppa’s House” on CBS. He is represented by Verve. “St. Denis Medical” Season 3 will air on November 2 on NBC, with Seasons 1-2 now available to stream on Peacock.
