SHS placement results to be out Aug. 31

The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Secretariat is scheduled to release the 2026 Senior High School placement results on August 31, 2023. This announcement comes after the successful completion of the selection process for over 620,000 candidates who took the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in 2026.

The CSSPS Secretariat revealed this in an interview with The Ghanaian Times, explaining that the placement results will follow the completion of the pre-placement exercise, which allowed candidates to choose their preferred senior high and technical schools based on their BECE results. The exercise, overseen by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), concluded on August 30, 2023, with many students completing their school selections with assistance from their parents and guardians.

Following the exercise, WAEC will submit the candidates' data to the CSSPS Secretariat, which will process the placements before the official release of the results. To address annual challenges associated with the placement process, the Ministry of Education has expanded placement resolution centers to all 16 regions, enabling parents and candidates to resolve issues within their respective regions.

Call centers have also been established to provide assistance and address complaints. The Ministry expects a reduction in placement-related complaints this year due to the new arrangement, which allows candidates to select schools only after receiving their BECE results, as recommended by a committee established after last year's placement exercise.
