Taiwanese singer Edy Hsiao, 44, recently released his first solo album, which includes a self-written song titled "Three Dollars." The song is a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Mei, 45, for her unwavering support during his darkest days. At the time, Edy had only 40 sen left to his name, which is roughly equivalent to NT$3. The tune is a direct reflection of his personal experience, as he revealed in an interview with local Chinese media outlet 8world.

Edy and Mei tied the knot in 2007, and they have three children - two daughters, Pupu, 18, and Puru, 16, and a seven-year-old son, Ah Zhu Bao. During the period when Energy, his former boyband, disbanded in 2009, Edy struggled with an unstable income while trying to make ends meet. He constantly searched for work opportunities, leading to a period of financial hardship.

Despite the pressure, Edy credits his wife for never leaving him during this challenging time. She remained by his side, working together to keep their family afloat and shoulder the financial burden. She was not influenced by their situation and decided to stay, supporting Edy every step of the way.

Moreover, the couple faced the loss of several family members over four consecutive years, adding to their emotional turmoil. The repeated bereavements, coupled with the financial struggles, put a significant strain on their marriage. During tough times, Edy affectionately described his wife as his "walking stick," emphasizing how she supported him when he was struggling to walk on his own.
