Saudi Pro League explains how clubs like Al-Nassr can sign players despite debts

Omar Baterjee, spokesperson for the Saudi Pro League, clarified the financial criteria enabling clubs like Al-Nassr to sign players despite existing debts. The process hinges on clubs demonstrating their financial standing through submitted documents and guarantees related to the contract. At a Sports Sector Conference, Baterjee addressed inquiries about Al-Nassr's ability to sign players despite debt, stating that permission to finalize transfers is contingent upon the club proving no financial gaps in its commitments.

He elaborated that clubs can sign players if they provide documents detailing their obligations, confirming that there is no financial shortfall in any commitment, along with providing guarantees for the contract. Baterjee refuted claims of delays by the Recruitment Committee in the contracting process, affirming that any differences are due to evaluations of the players under consideration for signing, and emphasized that the league has not delayed responding to clubs in this regard.

He also addressed the league's fixture schedule, asserting that it was constructed based on announced criteria, and noted that the upcoming season will be one of the most intricate, calendar-wise. Baterjee highlighted that measuring the Pro League's success extends beyond match outcomes, encompassing fan base expansion. He disclosed that four initiatives will be introduced this season to increase attendance and grow the league's supporter base, including promotional campaigns, a club support strategy, a fan base development initiative, and the "Fan of the Round" program, all integral to the league's endeavors to enhance attendance and broaden its fan community.
