Salasya ready for handshake with Linda Mwananchi team after weeks of trading barbs

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya announced his intention to meet with the Linda Mwananchi team for a handshake after weeks of exchanging harsh words. In a statement posted on social media on August 9, 2026, Salasya pledged to cease criticizing the movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, allowing the Senator to pursue his political ambitions without further attacks.

Former Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya had invited Salasya to join Linda Mwananchi during a rally at Shianda Market in Mumias East, where he was encouraged by the gesture and the invitation to assume the number 7 position. Salasya acknowledged the invitation in good faith and commended the Linda Mwananchi team for their political maturity during their two-day tour of Western Kenya, noting that the team maintained tolerance despite his past criticism of the movement.

The newly released remarks represent a notable change from Salasya's previous attacks on Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi movement, including his claim that the Senator's growing influence was a "National Intelligence Service project" aimed at obstructing the united opposition's efforts to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.
