Ruto: ODM and UDA parties will develop a joint 2027 manifesto

Kenya Kwanza President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Oburu Oginga have announced plans to jointly develop a manifesto ahead of the 2027 General Election. This marks a formalization of their political partnership, which has been operating under the broad-based government. The decision comes after consultations within their respective parties, with Kenya Kwanza nominating Emmanuel Nzai, Dr Daniel Mwai, Bramwel Simiyu, and Dr Cecilia Ng'etich to lead the manifesto drafting process.

ODM's executive director will also serve as an ex officio member of the team. The joint manifesto will set out the coalition's priorities and campaign platform, drawing from shared values and Kenyan aspirations. Ruto emphasized that the manifesto would not merely highlight past achievements but would outline the coalition's plans for the future.

He praised ODM's contributions to government, noting the party's impact on governance and its ability to bring both numbers and quality to the coalition. Ruto emphasized the political courage required to unite the two parties, contrasting their alliance with the opposition's divided camp. The process of developing the joint manifesto is expected to be a significant test of how Kenya Kwanza and ODM translate their current working relationship into a formal electoral alliance.
