Russia attacks Ukraine with Kh-59/69 missile, Banderol munitions and drones

On the night of Aug. 10, Russia launched a coordinated attack on Ukraine utilizing Kh-59/69 guided missiles, three Banderol loitering munitions, and 126 drones, including Shahed-type UAVs. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian missiles and drones were launched from multiple locations within Russia, as well as from occupied territories in Donetsk and Crimea.

Preliminary data, as of 9 a.m., indicated that Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted or neutralized 92 of the Shahed, Gerbera, and other drone types, along with three Banderol loitering munitions. The attacks targeted 22 locations across the north, south, and east of Ukraine, with 31 strike drones managing to hit their intended targets. However, one missile failed to reach its intended destination due to active countermeasures, and its crash site is still under investigation.

The missile attack resulted in civilian infrastructure in Sumy coming under fire, injuring at least five individuals. Preliminary reports suggest no fatalities. The incident unfolded overnight into Aug. 10, with Russia employing a combination of missiles, loitering munitions, and drones in their assault on Ukrainian soil.
