Porch geese trend taking off in Regina

Across Canada, a growing trend of people bonding over decorative lawn geese, known as "porch geese," is taking off in Regina. The fad gained traction in the 1970s and 1980s and appears to be making a resurgence. Michelle Bozza, a Regina resident who owns a porch goose, shared her desire for a goose during Mother's Day, stating it was the only gift she wished for.

The trend extends beyond ownership; owners dress up their geese, often using second-hand children's clothing, Temu purchases, and DIY creations, and share daily outfit photos on social media. A Facebook group with over 14,000 members, called the Porch Goose Club of Canada, serves as a hub for enthusiasts to exchange photos of their lawn geese.

Local businesses have noticed an increase in interest in porch geese, with one popular model, "Giddy," selling hundreds of units over the season. Karen Van Duyvendyk, owner of Regina's Dutch Growers Home and Garden, explained that the geese have been flying off the shelves all season long.
