PKR veep rubbishes claim Nurul Izzah quit over poor anti-graft efforts

Amirudin Shari, the vice-president of the PKR party, has dismissed the claim made by Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim that Nurul Izzah Anwar's resignation as deputy president was due to her dissatisfaction with the government's efforts to combat corruption. Amirudin stated that Nurul Izzah had never mentioned this issue to the party leadership, not even during its meetings. He referred to Anwar Ibrahim, the prime minister and Nurul Izzah's father, questioning how Hassan could presume to understand his daughter better than him.

Anwar reportedly stated that Nurul Izzah had other plans outside the party but would continue to remain active. Amirudin further affirmed that Nurul Izzah had promised to keep working for the party and would even attend the upcoming congress. He dismissed Hassan Karim's assumption as being off the mark, emphasizing that any dissatisfaction with the government's fight against corruption had never been discussed at the party's meetings. Additionally, Amirudin pointed out that Hassan Karim did not attend these gatherings.
