Pakistan Wins 3 Medals at International Nuclear Science Olympiad

Pakistan claimed three medals at the 3rd International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO-2026), which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from August 2 to 8. The prestigious competition was organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency and saw participation from around 120 students and experts from 19 nations, among them China, Japan, Russia, Turkiye, Malaysia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

The Pakistani contingent was vetted and prepared by the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, under the supervision of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission. Muhammad Ali of Government College University in Lahore emerged victorious with a gold medal, while Muhammad Usman from F.G. Sir Syed College in Rawalpindi and Seerat Fatima from Nixor College in Karachi brought home silver medals each.

Syed Shuja Haider of Sundar STEM School in Lahore was also a representative of Pakistan at the event. The students were chosen through the Pakistan Nuclear Science Olympiad, a program by PAEC aimed at discovering and fostering young scientific minds. Pakistan has been given the honor of hosting the 4th International Nuclear Science Olympiad in 2027.
