Osun guber: You shouldn’t have left PDP for Accord – Okolugbo to Adeleke

Former Special Adviser to the Senate President, Kenny Okolugbo, has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party (ADC). Okolugbo argues that Adeleke's move has been disadvantageous to him. Adeleke had cited unresolved leadership crises within the PDP's national framework as the reason for his departure, which he believed would help him secure a stable foundation for his re-election campaign.

However, Okolugbo pointed out that the political move could backfire, as people would still vote for the PDP due to its presence on the ballot. He felt that Adeleke did not execute the political move effectively. The analyst further suggested that the Osun government should have challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the accusation of suspicious fund withdrawals from the state's accounts.

He also suggested that the government should have clarified the situation with the EFCC to provide explanations for the flagged withdrawals. Adeleke is set to contest the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026. The major contenders in the election are the ruling Accord Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
