Liam Brady, born on February 13th, 1956, in Dublin, Ireland, was a widely regarded football talent. His family had a deep-rooted connection to the sport, with several relatives having played for Irish clubs and the national team.

His professional career included stints with Arsenal, Juventus, Sampdoria, Inter, Ascoli, and West Ham United. Brady earned a remarkable 72 caps for the Republic of Ireland between 1974 and 1990.

By the early 1990s, Celtic faced significant financial struggles, which made it difficult for them to compete with financially stronger rivals like Rangers. In an unusual hiring process, Brady expressed interest in becoming the new manager after Billy McNeill's dismissal.
